What is an anomoly scan?

At 20 weeks an ultrasound will be done. This is most commonly known as the scan at which you can find out the sex of your baby but it is more importantly an anomoly scan.
The anomaly scan will usually take place around the 20 week point and looks to check that baby is developing and growing properly with no problems. The scan will check;

What happens in weeks 17 to 20 of pregnancy?

Week 17
The cartilage which is found throughout baby’s body is now starting to harden into bone. Baby can measure up to 4.8 inches and weighs almost 3 1/2 ounces. You may have increased vaginal discharge and may start to suffer from indigestion as your uterus puches your insides upwards and your oesophageal muscles and sphincter begin to relax.

What is Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction?

Your Symphasis Pubis is a stiff joint supported by many stiff ligaments which connects the two halves of your pubic bone at the front.
Symphasis Pubis Dysfunction is pelvic joint pain suffered during pregnancy due to the added pressure on your pelvic joints and the relaxing of your ligaments caused by to the release of a hormone in pregnancy called  relaxin which softens your joints in preparation for childbirth.
