Week 27

Baby’s kicks and movements that you once waited for excitedly may now seem more of a pain than a pleasure. With less room to move baby will sometimes end up kicking your ribs and kicks that were once gentle enough to ignore may now keep you up all night. Think of it as a trial run for the sleepless nights of motherhood. Baby’s once fused eyes can now open and close and baby sucks his or her thumb. Baby is now around 15 inches long and weighs around 2 pounds.

Week 28

Now out of the glowing second trimester you may begin to feel tired and heavy. Pamper yourself whenever you get the chance. Now getting towards the end of pregnancy you may begin to think about making a birth plan. You may also begin to worry about the birth and about being parents. Try to separate your anxieties into the reasonable and unreasonable ones and talk them through with your friends, partner or midwife. You may begin to see your midwife more regularly at this point. Baby is now starting to grow hair on his or her head, as eyebrows and as eyelashes.

Week 29

Baby’s brain is now developing and baby is getting fatter by the day. You probably are too.You may be having various digestion problems too such as indigestion heartburn and constipation. This is due both to baby pushing your organs up and down and to your body relaxing and becoming less efficient e.g. intestines, colon and the muscles in your esophagus. Baby’s brain will do a lot of developing between now and being born.

Week 30

Among the pregnancy problems you may begin to suffer from are headaches, leg cramps and varicose veins. You may also suffer shortness of breath and getting easily tired as baby pushes up your lungs. Baby is around 17 inches long and weighs around 3 pounds. You may now be able to tell whether you can feel a head or a bottom when touching your stomach. You may even be able to feel hands and feet.
