If you actually feel like you have the libido and energy to have sex during the last few weeks of pregnancy then the majority of medical professionas would advise that this is fine as orgasms and intercourse alone do not send women into early labour.

Some points to keep in mind when deciding whether to have sex however are:

• If you have a high risk pregnancy then your doctor may advise to abstain from sex
• You should take it slowly if suffering from any back or pelvic pain
• You should consider using condoms to prevent any infections that could be passed to baby during delivery and to prevent sperm from entering your cervix as the prostaglandin in sperm in late pregnancy can start contractions
